In 2026, this brawny luxury vehicle now has a companion in the Cadillac stable: the all-electric Escalade IQ. The two vehicles offer alternative options when it comes to a full-sized SUV. They have different pricing tiers, but the main difference for buyers depends on whether they prefer a traditional gas model or an electric. The traditional Escalade relies on proven internal combustion engineering. It comes with a standard 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 420 horsepower. Then there's the Escalade-V, which sits at the top of the gas-powered trim levels. It has a supercharged V8 that pushes out 682 horsepower. If you want to regularly tow a boat or camper down to the Gulf, the standard V8 engine has a max tow rating of up to 8,100 pounds (on 2WD models).

The Escalade IQ is built from the ground up on General Motors' Ultium electric vehicle platform. It eliminates the traditional engine bay entirely, replacing it with a 24-module battery pack integrated into the vehicle's floor structure. The dual motor electric system produces 680 horsepower in standard driving modes. That can scale up to 750 horsepower when you activate the Velocity Max performance setting. Because electric motors deliver a large amount of torque from a complete stop, the Escalade IQ accelerates quickly despite its weight. It also carries and estimated driving range of up to 460 miles on a full charge.

The body styles of the two vehicles also set them apart. The gas-powered Escalade has an upright silhouette with strong vertical lines and a hood that sits high above the ground. It also has a large geometric front grille that's designed to feed cooling air to the V8 engine. The Escalade stands tall on the road and has a commanding presence. Its high seating position has made it a top choice for generations of full-sized SUV buyers.

Electric vehicles don't require a huge front radiator to cool an engine block, so the engineering team built the Escalade IQ with different aerodynamics. It features a swept back roofline and a low front fascia with an illuminated crystal shield. The front windshield is tilted back at a much sharper angle than that of the Escalade. The trailing edge of the roof has a rear spoiler to minimize wind resistance on the highway. This gives the Escalade IQ a fastback appearance, while still providing the physical scale of its gas counterpart.

Both vehicles offer three rows of premium seating. The Escalade can be configured for seven or eight passengers, and the Escalade IQ is built for seven. Both offer premium leather seating.

The big interior difference comes down to the digital layouts. The gas-powered Escalade features a curved OLED display that provides 38 inches of screen space on the dashboard. The display is divided into three separate screens. Your main driving gauges, navigation maps, and infotainment controls are organized into separate viewing zones. The Escalade also retains physical buttons for the climate controls. Many drivers prefer the button setup for quick access while they're on the road.

The Escalade IQ's cabin tech is centered around an even bigger display. The moment you open the front doors, you're greeted by a pillar-to-pillar 55-inch curved LED screen. It spans the entire front dashboard. It combines the driver instruments, central navigation systems, and a dedicated entertainment screen for the front passenger behind a single piece of glass. This is supplemented by a smaller angled screen on the lower center console. This additional screen manages seating comfort and the climate menus.

The absence of a gas engine also provides space for a front trunk under the Escalade IQ's hood. It gives you an extra 12 cubic feet of storage space outside the main cabin.
